Seperti telah kami informasikan per SMS kepada semua pelanggan kami, datacenter kami di Dallas mengalami down dikarenakan masalah kelistrikan. Hampir selama 4 jam baru masalah ini bisa selesai dan server kami kembali hidup.

Explanation for Power Outage
Date: 03/06/2009
Dear Valued Customer,
We
would like to offer our sincere apology for the service interruption
due to power outage that happened in the Friday morning of March 6th.
What happened?
At
11:40pm on March 5th, our building was experiencing a power outage.
Naturally, we switched to UPS power immediately while waiting for the
generator to start. Unfortunately, the generator failed to start so our
24/7 staff called the management staff who then called Oncor (power
company), datacenter electrician, generator contractor and the fuel
vendor.
Due
to scarcity of the generator technician availabiltiy during this hour,
we did everything we could to start the generator manually. At this
moment, the server room was still running off the UPS battery until the
the UPS shutdown 1.5 hours later. We finally get the generator manually
started approximately at 2:40am and the entire building is now
operating as usual. Nevertheless, the power outage caused one of our
distribution switches to lose its configuration, so we have to enter
the configuration from our backup repository line by line which caused
even more delay.
From
2:40am to 6:30am, the building run on the generator power until the
city power was restored. In the mean time, all our vendors were working
together to fix the issue at hand. We found out that this outage was
triggered by a faulty breaker inherited from the previous tenant. We
also found a small air leak in the fuel line which was enough to cause
the generator to stall during the automatic start up which was the main
reason why the generator failed to start. This too, has been solved as
of today. After many trials, we confirmed that the generator start up
procedure has been restored to its optimum condition and the fuel tank
is now full again.
